Floatist is the meeting point between folk singer-songwriter Henny Herz and drummer and producer Nicholas Stampf.
With Somewhere Else Entirely, the duo not only deepens their long-standing artistic collaboration but also ventures into new stylistic territory, inspired by soulful grooves and playful sound design.
Together, the two produced the third Henny Herz album, We All Heal At Night, in an old country house in the Czech Republic — a collection of fourteen pieces situated between folk and ambient that are devoted entirely to the themes of sleep and a sense of safety in turbulent times.
Somewhere Else Entirely brings together twelve tracks that drift between worlds. Gentle, intimate voices tell stories and merge into immersive choirs, floating on airy grooves. The music invites the listener to sink in, get comfortable, roll down the imaginary window and lean their head into the warm rush of air, while sun-drenched maritime landscapes pass by and the salty breeze announces the approaching sea.
Since 2020, Nicholas Stampf has been an integral part of the band surrounding Henny Herz, playing a key role both in the album production of Two Colors To Combine (2023) and in numerous live performances.
In this imagined place — which also symbolizes the origin of our existence — the urgent questions within all of us become audible, questions that rarely find enough space for reflection: where we as humanity and as a society must go in order to live a life worth living in the new age of artificial intelligence and climate catastrophe. How we want to live together, and which processes of reflection are needed both individually and collectively. Floatist opens a space for this like the tides: retreating into safety, then rolling back in with renewed force.
